The Late Rev J H Pilkington of Framlingham

The Late Rev J H Pilkington of Framlingham

Following the recent articles in Framfare about the church bells and the mention of Reverend James Holme Pilkington and his son Daniel in my World War 1 Framlingham War Memorial book, I have been sent the following information regarding Reverend Pilkington and his funeral following his death on the 28th December 1916 aged 60.

On the occasion of his funeral the bells of St Michael’s church were rung deeply muffled as a mark of esteem and regret and in recognition of him having had the bells at Framlingham restored and for maintaining a high state of efficiency in everything pertaining to the belfry.

Taken from the Ringing World 2nd February 1917 (No 307, Vol XII), p34
